A Message From The Job Rides Leadership Team
A dream of service and opportunity began to take shape in 2021—a dream to provide rides to individuals who want to work but who have no means of transportation to a job. A few of us began to search for a way to put wheels on our dream, and we built a non-profit called Job Rides, Inc.
In less than one year, we purchased six vans, hired drivers, and established contracts with manufacturers. After one year of operations, more than 150 riders receive reliable, safe transportation to and from their jobs in the Des Moines metro. Drivers operate our vans six days a week for all work shifts of the manufacturers and employees that we serve. Employers pay a small fee to Job Rides for those we transport, so the riders pay a minimal fee for the service.
A few riders share what reliable transportation through Job Rides, Inc. means to them:
• One rider continually tells the drivers, “Bless you. Job Rides has saved my life. I could not be any happier with the job and the service that Job Rides provides.”
• The management and riders at Fort Des Moines work release program note how easy Job Rides has made it to find jobs. What typically before took months, now only takes a week to find employment.
• One man was able to get and keep a job because of Job Rides, and to move from a homelessness to an apartment. From warehouse employee, he became a shift supervisor in four months. He now has hope for his future.
Your partnership and donations are essential to keep this dream growing and meeting the needs of our community in this special way.
